Letter to the editor | May be hazardous to your health

Published: August 15, 2012

Here is a heads up for Happy Valley residents: Penn State is building a bio-safety level 3 laboratory in your backyard.

This means ebola, mad cow disease, anthrax and other extremely hazardous disease agents are coming to Happy Valley!

Lemont, Houserville and the Nittany Mall are all directly downwind of this facility, which is under construction at University Park. There has to be a more remote, safer place for a research facility like this where any leak or mishap will spell disaster for all of the surrounding communities.

After the Jerry Sandusky affair, can we really trust Penn State to do the right thing? I think not. If you agree and value the lives of your family and friends, call your state representative with your concerns.
