Letter to the editor | Why no outrage over Freeh report?

Published: August 18, 2012

One of the things we should have learned from the recent events at Penn State is that a lie unchallenged will be accepted as truth. Additionally once that “truth” has been established, it will continue to grow.

In the rush to judgment with regard to the Sandusky scandal, Penn State officials chose to leave unsubstantiated conclusions in the Freeh report unchallenged. The report became accepted as true and NCAA sanctions were handed down and accepted.

Now this acceptance continues to grow and Penn State’s accreditation has been put on watch.

Where is the outrage of the faculty? What will be next? When will our “leaders” say enough and seriously address the shortcomings of this report?
