Penn State offers employees special ticket price for Sept. 1 football game against Ohio University

— Penn State is thanking its staff with a two-for-the-price-of-one deal on tickets to the Nittany Lions’ football game against Ohio University next Saturday.

Full-time employees can get two tickets and two $10 concession vouchers for $79 from 8 a.m. Monday until 6 p.m. Wednesday or when tickets run out. The tickets have a $70 face value.

According to an email from the Office of Human Resources, the university is offering the package as a way of thanking employees for their dedication to the university throughout the recent turmoil.

“The commitment and resolve of our faculty and staff have been tremendous during the most challenging of times, and we want to say thank you,” said Susan Basso, associate vice president for human resources.

Penn State spokeswoman Jill Shockey said there are about 10,000 seats still available for the game. Of those, about 3,500 have been set aside for employees.

“If more tickets need to be made available for the employee appreciation offer, Athletics has said they will address that,” Shockey said in an email.

Penn State’s Office of Human Resources and department of athletics are offering the ticket deal. The university’s retirement plan partner, TIAA-CREF, is supporting concession vouchers and giving the first 1,000 employees with IDs at the upper concourse behind the NA or NL sections a special gift.

Tickets are available by calling 800-NITTANY or in person at the Beaver Stadium ticket office next to Gate E. Employees will need their Penn State ID cards.

According to the university, a limited number of season tickets are also available to staff for 50 percent off the usually required giving levels.
