Joe Paterno biography author Posnanski to visit Penn State

State College - Centre Daily TimesAugust 29, 2012

— “Paterno” author Joe Posnanski will be making his only scheduled local appearance when he stops at Penn State at 4 p.m. Sept. 14 in room 119 of the Osmond building, Malcolm Moran said.

Moran, the Knight chair in sports journalism and society at Penn State, will be moderating this installment of “Conversations,” an appearance that was booked before the biography’s release date. The event is free and open to the public.

“Right from the start, he was enthusiastic about wanting to do something with us,” Moran said of Posnanski’s appearance.

The book offers an inside look at the experiences of late Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno as the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal was unfolding.

Moran said he imagines much of the discussion will be on the book, but there will be a question-and-answer session, so the audience will play a large role in determining the course of the conversation.
He said he’s expecting a packed house, including some people from outside the county because the date falls before Penn State’s home football game against Navy.

The room holds more than 340 people.

Moran will try to leave as much time as possible for Q-and-A so that everyone who wants to ask a question will get the chance.

“It’s a great chance to talk about something that people are talking about,” he said.
