COLLEGE TOWNSHIP — A 41-year-old man was charged Wednesday with open lewdness after police said he was seen inappropriately exposing and touching himself in his vehicle in the Sam’s Club parking lot on the Benner Pike.

State police at Rockview said John Q. Adams, of Grassflat, was seen exposing himself earlier this month by a female shopper.

The woman reported she was sitting in her vehicle when a Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled into the space next to her, police wrote in a criminal complaint.

She said the man was exposing himself, but did not make eye contact with her. She left the spot and took down his license plate, police said.

Police said Adams later admitted to exposing himself, but denied he was stalking or targeting the woman. He allegedly said he was exchanging text messages with his girlfriend and became aroused.
