UNIVERSITY PARK — Cael Sanderson has added another face from the past to fill out his coaching staff.
The Nittany Lions announced Wednesday the addition of former Iowa State All-American Nick Fanthorpe to take the place of former Penn State All-American Aaron Anspach, who left his post as the teams volunteer asssitant shortly after last season.
Fanthorpe is not unfamiliar with Happy Valley.
Hes spent time recently training as a resident athlete with the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club and will begin his first stint as a college coaching assistant when the defending national champions begin their season.
Fanthorpe wrestled all but one year under Sandersons tutelage at Iowa State.
The Napierville, Ill., native left Ames with a 94-29 career record, including a 32-6 mark as a sophomore. That year, 2007-08, Fanthorpe placed seventh at NCAAs to garner All-America status for the Cyclones.
He won two Big 12 Championships and was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 first-teamer.
