CATA offering shuttle service on game day

Published: August 31, 2012

The Centre Area Transportation Authority will, again, provide shuttle service to Penn State home football games, beginning Saturday.

The downtown shuttle picks up on Beaver

Avenue, at Atherton Street and Schlow Centre Region Library, as well as at all CATA bus stops along University Drive, Easterly Parkway and Atherton Street from Easterly Parkway to Beaver Avenue.

The South Atherton shuttle picks up in the Hills Plaza parking lot and at all South Atherton CATA stops from Hills Plaza to Easterly Parkway, Rolling Ridge and Windmere drives, Easterly Parkway and University Drive.

The shuttles begin operation three hours before kickoff and run continuously until after the game is over. For games that begin after 6 p.m., shuttle service operates from 3 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Both shuttles operate in both directions approximately every 10 minutes before the game, every 20 minutes during the game, and every 10 minutes, one way from the stadium, after.

Fare is $3 per one-way trip, exact fare only, for both adults and children. Those presenting a valid U.S. Medicare card, senior transit identification card or CATA reduced fare identification card may ride for $1.50.

Centre Area Transportation Authority buses will operate on their Sunday full service schedules on Monday.

Both CATA offices will be closed for Labor Day.
