Penns Valley Area High School students will each receive a laptop computer this year as part of the district’s new 1 to 1 computer initiative.
High school students will have exclusive use of the computers during the day as part of the school’s curriculum, according to a statement on the district’s website.
To take the computers home, however, both students and their parents must attend an information meeting set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school auditorium. A previous meeting was held in August.
Those who don’t attend one of the meetings will not be permitted to take their computers home when they are distributed Wednesday.
Anyone with a question or anyone seeking additional information can contact Sherri Connell, assistant superintendent of schools, at 422-2000, ext. 2528.
Botanical art
Local artists are inviting
area residents to take a closer look at their photographic botanical series Friday at Green Drake Gallery and Arts Center in Millheim.
Dana Morrison, of Green Drake, said artists Gerald Lang, a Penn State professor, and Jennifer Tucker, will be on hand at the gallery at 8:30 p.m. to take about their work and the nutritional use of plants.
The event is free and will also feature music from Hannan Bingman and gallery owner Karl Leitzel, Morrison said.
