PHILIPSBURG — Caleb Henry found the back of the goal with just under 10 minutes to go as Philipsburg-Osceola defeated Penns Valley 1-0 in boys' soccer action on Wednesday night.
Philipsburg-Osceola took 29 shots on the goal but it only took one good one for them to earn their first win of the season.
Keeper Jay Prentice helped out the winning cause by making two saves in the net.
Cumberland Valley defeats State College
MECHANICSBURG Cumberland Valley was too much for State College to handle and the Little Lions lost, 3-1, on Wednesday.
Robbie Waite scored for the Little Lions while Alex Hsu helped set up State College's lone goal. Cumberland Valley out-shot State College 10-8.
Eagles improve to 2-0
WINGATE Bald Eagle Area scored an early second-half goal to lift the Eagles over Huntingdon on Wednesday night.
Brandon Gettig scored the lone goal of the game in the 45th minute as BEA improved to 2-0.
It was also goalie Ben Leskovansky's second shutout of the season as he made three saves in the net.
"Our defense played well today," said Eagles coach Jason Bair. "I'm glad we got the shutout."
Golden Eagles soar over Red Raiders
TYRONE Tyrone scored two goals in the final 15 minutes on Wednesday to defeat visiting Bellefonte 3-2.
Dakota Mextdorf opened the first and second halves with unassisted goals for the Red Raiders (1-2). The Golden Eagles tied the game at 2-2 with Kyle Bartlett's penalty kick in the 65th minute.
Alex Bartlett scored the unassisted game-winner in the 75th minute for Tyrone.
"(Tyrone) came out and humbled us, and we just didn't get off the bus today," Bellefonte coach Scott Martz said. "You have to give them credit, they came out and got every loose ball, and we had shots on goal but couldn't finish. It was frustrating."
Shane Kaschalk made seven saves in the net for Bellefonte, which entertains Penns Valley on Monday.
