Letter to the editor | Paid-ad logic doesn’t make sense

Published: September 6, 2012

In response to Friday’s paid advertisement from Eileen Morgan and “fellow concerned alumni,” their money would have been better spent on scholarships for needy students attending Penn State than on a full-page opinion in the CDT. Those who agree with the failed logic are the ones dividing our great university.

We understand that they love Joe Paterno. They called him an “icon,” but he was, after all of his generosity and meaningful deeds, just a man.

Why would Louis Freeh, an independent investigator with an excellent reputation and extensive experience, want to smear Penn State or its administrators?

The hours and hours of Freeh’s investigation could not “cover up” the conclusion that the administrators, including Paterno, were in collusion to protect Dear Old State and, in doing so, many young, innocent boys were seriously harmed.
