ALTOONA Ben Berkman earned medalist honors to lead State College to a 355-362 victory over Altoona in a non-league match on Thursday.
Berkman fired an 84 on the par-70 layout to edge Altoona's Chris Curs-man by a stroke for medalist. Mark Henry (86), Tanner Witter (92) and Nick Kiraly (93) were the other scorers for the Little Lions in the event, in which the top four scorers among the six players for each team counted.
"It was good to have some of the guys on our roster who have not travelled to get a chance to play," State College coach Keith Bless said.
The Little Lions play at Central Dauphin East on Monday.
Mounties, Rams split against Tyrone
BOALSBURG Philipsburg-Osceola's boys' golf team took home a rain-shortened win on Thursday, defeating Tyrone 199-211 at the Elks Country Club in Boalsburg.
Tyrone's Greg Ferguson was the medalist in the nine-hole match after shooting a 35, as Jon Sauber led the Mounties with a 47.
The Golden Eagles defeated Penns Valley 211-245, as Jared Taylor led the Rams with a 53.
Bellefonte defeats Huntingdon
MINGOVILLE Bellefonte's Louis Hinton led his team with a 94 as the Red Raiders topped Huntingdon 400-477 on Thursday at Nittany Country Club.
Hinton was followed by Ethan White (94), Tom Urban (96) and Daniel Zimmerman (108) in the win.

Lady Eagles spike Tyrone
TYRONE Bald Eagle Area notched its first win of the season on Thursday by sweeping Tyrone 25-16, 25-17, 25-12.
Kate Miller and Tylor Yarrison combined for 16 kills, as Yarrison also chipped in four digs and a block.
Jess Bressler also had a big night for BEA with six digs, eight aces and 20 assists.
BEA travels to West Branch on Monday.
Lady Mounties sweep Clearfield
CLEARFIELD The Lady Mounties had an impressive three-game sweep over Clearfield 25-14, 25-6, 25-13 on Thursday night.
Mackenzie Burge led the Lady Mounties with 23 assists, as Kylie Scovern topped the hitters with 12 kills, Emily Bush-Clark had an impressive 22 service points.
Burge also collected eight aces, while Marlee Chutko and Taylor Olenick each chipped in two blocks.
P-O returns to the court on Tuesday against Penns Valley.
Lady Little Lions roll over Altoona
STATE COLLEGE State College improved to 2-0 on the season on Wednesday with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-15 victory over rival Altoona.
Emma Weakland led the Lady Little Lions with 13 kills, as Christine Irwin chipped in six. Kyla Irwin notched three blocks for State College while Jackie Horner added three aces.
Setter Suzanne Horner had an impressive night for State College with 32 assists.
State College travels to the Garden Spot Invitational on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

Lady Mounties drop first match
TYRONE Ellen Crook scored a hat trick on Thursday to lead Tyrone to a 7-2 victory over Philipsburg- Osceola.
The Golden Eagles (1-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the break, as Lady Mountie Jordyn Powell opened the second half with an unassisted goal. Crook added her second goal to give Tyrone a 4-1 edge, as P-O's Alayna Dertothy followed with a goal on a Powell assist to cut the deficit in half.
Crook then scored her second of the half and the Golden Eagles tagged on two more goals finishing the game with 32 shots on goal.
P-O goalies Carley Hahn and Makenzie Myers combined to make 25 saves in net.
BEA pummels Central
MARTINSBURG Bald Eagle Area had 40 shots on goal Thursday, resulting in eight goals as the Lady Eagle ran past Central 8-0.
BEA scored all eight goals in the first half as Haley Giedroc led the team with two goals as Samantha Rougeux, Morgan Nyman, Dallis Dillon, Haley Furrow, Lexi Josefik and Maddie Cingle added scores in the first-half onslaught.
Keeper Makennah Dyke made one save in the net for the Lady Eagles.
Bellefonte dominates Penns Valley
SPRING MILLS Bellefonte found an early spark and rode its aggressive play to a 6-2 victory over Penns Valley on Thursday afternoon.
Morgan Brooks led the Lady Raiders with a hat trick, as Devin Kos added two goals. Brooke Red-fern had five saves in goal for Bellefonte.
Grace Glover and Rachel Long scored goals for Penns Valley, as Kylie Orndorf made 14 saves for the Lady Rams.

State College tops Central Daupin East
STATE COLLEGE State College exploded with four goals in the second half en route to a 5-0 victory over Central Dauphin East on Thursday.
Paige Meily started off the Lady Little Lions (1-1) with the first goal of the game, assisted by Teresa Lesher.
Megan Wandrisco gave State College a 2-0 lead early in the second half, as Lesher, Amy Reapsome and Taylor Montross followed with goals in the win.
State College goalie Caroline Moore finished with eight saves.
On Wednesday, the Lady Little Lions dropped their season-opener to Cumberland Valley 3-1 in Mechanics-burg.
Lady Little Lion Lauren Bonness scored the first goal of the game, but Cumberland Valley put together three unanswered in the second half.
Moore managed nine saves in the loss.
