Update: Package found at Beaver Stadium was safe, area cleared

The package found at Beaver Stadium that led Penn State police to close a road and call in a the Hazardous Materials Response Team was found not to be dangerous.

According to the university, the parcel was a package for delivery and didn't contain any hazardous material. Police had closed Porter Road from Curtin to Park Avenue while they investigated the package that was found earlier today.

The university issued an alert at 1:30 p.m., asking people to avoid the area, and issued an alert that the area had been cleared of any hazard by 3 p.m.
