Penn State freshman Jeff Jezewski described being in Beaver Stadium for head coach Bill O’Brien’s first win as “awesome”

Jezewski watched the Nittany Lions topple Navy 34-7 in a game where quarterback Matt McGloin threw four touchdown passes, three to his favorite target — Allen Robinson.

Jezewski said the tandem had a “great connection.”

“I think they’re going to use that as much as they can to their benefit,” he said.

Penn State fan Terry Smythe agreed, saying he thought the team looked “great” getting its first win of the season.

But Smythe, of Lititz, said the defense, especially the pass defense, still needs some work if the team is going to continue to stay competitive moving forward into next week’s game against Temple. He said he’s still predicting a Lions win when the Owls come to State College.

Jake Myers, a Penn State junior, also liked that Penn State tried to establish the running game and commended fullback Michael Zordich for carrying part of that load.

He said this win will “get the ball rolling” and be what sparks the team for the remainder of the season.

Jezewski agreed, saying the first win is the hardest and more will come as the team matures and gets more experience, and he will continue to attend the games saying he’s excited to be at the university for the start of the O’Brien era.

“It feels very good to be a part of,” he said.

He wouldn’t speculate on a final win total for the team, but he said he’s looking for the squad to finish with a winning record.
