Penn State women's tennis: Lions senior leads way at Midland Invite

— Penn State senior Petra Januskova advanced to the third round of the Midland Invitational on Friday, as two players were still alive in singles consolations.

Januskova defeated Elizabeth Thoms of Texas-Arlington 6-4, 6-1 in the first round before ousting Texas State's Jessica Kahts 6-2, 6-4 in the second round.

Devan McCluskey defeated Nebraska’s Lauren Wagner 2-6, 6-2, 10-2 in the first round of consolations, as Carmen Sandor remained alive for Penn State after defeating Abilene Christian’s Britney Reed 6-3, 6-3 in the consolation round.

Januskova and McCluskey remained alive in doubles play with an 8-4 win over Stephen F. Austin’s Nataly Yoo and Kateryna Bugayenko.
