Published: September 17, 2012

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he struck a pedestrian with his vehicle and fled from the scene around 2:04 a.m. Friday on West College Avenue.

State College police said the pedestrian, a 22-year-old man, suffered a broken ankle and other injuries and was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Police did not identify either man. They said the driver has not been charged, pending further investigation and the result of blood alcohol tests.

The pedestrian was not crossing the street in a cross-walk.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the crash, and was found a short time later, police said.
