The Bellefonte Elks Lodge, 120 W. High St., will hold its first annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday. It will be held in conjunction with a chili-themed tailgate during the Penn State/Temple game. Those who would like to enter a chili in the contest can contact Doug Linebaugh at dwl9@hotmail.com or 355-8055. For those who attend the tailgate, there will be a chili-themed buffet and the opportunity to taste all of the chilis, and then vote for a favorite at a price of $10 per person. The Elks will also be looking for pie donations to auction off at the end of the game.

STATE COLLEGE

The Nittany Valley Symphony Guild invites the community to “Luncheon with the Maestro” on Sept. 27 at Centre Hills Country Club, 153 Country Club Road. Social time will start at 11:30 a.m., while the luncheon, featuring music by Allegria Ensemble, will be at noon. Following lunch, maestro Michael Jinbo will talk about Nittany Valley Symphony’s upcoming performance, “Portrait of America.”

The cost of the luncheon is $25 per person. Call 231-8224 for reservations by Thursday.

The State College Elks Lodge will present a Veterans Day Dinner at 6 p.m. Nov. 11 at the State College Elks Country Club, U.S. Route 322.
