Nittany Lion golfers finish eighth at invite

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Penn State men’s golf team dropped to eighth place in the final round at the Inverness Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

Jay Woodward and Jens Talbert paced the Nittany Lions with finishes in the Top 20 — tying for 20th at 9-over 222 at the Inverness Club.

Hollidaysburg native Anthony DeGol jumped six spots in the individual rankings to finish tied for 27th. at 11-over 224.

Northwestern won the team title with a 16-over 868, as Florida State, Kent State and North Texas all finished tied for the runner-up position at 879. Liberty finished fifth at 883, while Michigan State was sixth in the 11-team event at 887.

Northwestern’s Jack Perry and Kent State’s Kevin Miller tied for the individual title at 7-over 215.
