SPRING MILLS — Penns Valley stormed back from a two-set deficit to stun Bald Eagle Area in five sets Tuesday night for the Lady Rams’ first-ever win over the Lady Eagles
BEA held a 19-18 lead in the third set — six points from victory — before the Lady Rams ran off the next seven points in the 14-25, 16-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-6 victory.
Madison Bressler stuffed seven shots for Penns Valley (2-2), while Ashley Struble added team-leading four aces and six kills.
Bressler and Jen Bishop had 13 digs each and Tangie Lyons had 10 assists.
“It was a big win for us,” Penns Valley coach Joi McKenzie said. “We just played really solid volleyball. We did good job finding the other team’s weaknesses and exploiting them. ... I thought our communication was fantastic. We came out fighting and we never gave up.”
The Lady Eagles put up some big numbers from the service line, with 26 aces and 18 errors.
Courtney Fisher led with seven aces and Jess Bressler added six.
Jess Bressler also had 21 assists, nine digs, three kills and three blocks.
Kaitlyn Miller posted 12 kills and Nicole Doroschenko added five kills and Lauren Newman collected nine digs.
“We kept looking for someone to bail us out,” BEA coach Larry Campbell said. “We don’t have that terminal player to finish it out for us. Bressler did a dynamite job, but we need more to win a match.”
