Penn State football: Georgia defensive back commits to Nittany Lions

Published: September 19, 2012

Penn State received an oral commitment from Grayson (Ga.) High School defensive back Kasey Gaines on Wednesday night. Gaines selected Penn State over Harvard, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Gaines also recently received a scholarship offer from Miami (Ohio). The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Gaines helped Grayson capture a state title last year. Gaines plays on the same high school team as defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche, the nation’s No. 1 recruit, according to Rivals.com. Nkemdiche has orally committed to Clemson.

Gaines is the third defensive back in the Nittany Lions’ 2012 recruiting class. The Nittany Lions also have received commitments from Neiko Robinson of Northview (Fla.) and Jordan Smith of H.D. Woodson (D.C.).
