DUBOIS — State College’s Tyrus Gates earned medalist honors by carding an impressive score at Wednesday’s DuBois Invitational.

Gates shot even-par 72 on the Treasure Lake Silver Course. Gates had a strong back nine, collecting four birdies, including one on the 18th hole, to fire a 33. He defeated second-place finisher Jordan Kirsch of Hollidaysburg by seven strokes.

Gates led State College to a third-place finish in the 10-team event. Ben Galenberg and Kevin Zuercher shot 85 and 87, respectively, for the Little Lions.

State College’s finished with a four-player score of 340. Hollidaysburg won the event by shooting 334.
