Letter to the editor | Pass the Tostitos

Published: September 22, 2012

As I read Jacklyn Kephart’s letter to the editor Thursday I had to laugh, then wondered.

She wants to boycott Frito Lay items from Beaver Stadium because the company sponsors a bowl and Penn State is now not allowed to play in a bowl game.

Frito Lay had nothing to do with the NCAA to start boycotting every business, product and person because they are affiliated with the NCAA.

OK, let’s not let anyone in the stadium who carries a Capital One or Discover card. Let’s boycott the local Outback Steakhouse and Chick-fil-A; let’s not wear Russell Athletic apparel; please cancel your Allstate insurance; and please put down that box of Kraft macaroni and cheese.

Penn State football, students and alumni want to move forward and over the cloud that covers Happy Valley. But with people banning businesses that have nothing to do with the NCAA penalties, we will always have that cloud.

Now please pass me the salsa for my chips.
