Womens' golf : Penn State finishes second at Yale

— With four golfers among the top 20, Penn State finished second as a team to close the Yale Women’s Fall Intercollegiate on Sunday.

Christina Vosters closed with an even-par 72 and a 3-over 219 total to tie for sixth and lead the Nittany Lions. Elyse Archambault followed in a tie for ninth at 5-over, Emily Ransone was another stroke back in a tie for 11th and Catherine Herrera tied for 17th at 9-over. The team had to finish the tournament without Ellen Ceresko, who was tied for eighth after the second round, when she became sick during the third round and had to withdraw.

Led by overall winner Daniela Ortiz’s 9-under total, including 5-under 67s in each of her final two rounds to win by six strokes over a pair of teammates, Nova Southeastern won the team title at 5-under 859.

Penn State finished at 21-over 885, a stroke ahead of Georgetown in the 16-team field. The team will host the Nittany Lion Invitational beginning Friday.
