Lehigh beats Nittany Lions for first soccer win

— Matt Weaver's goal in the final minute gave Lehigh a 1-0 men's soccer victory over Penn State on Tuesday night, giving the Mountain Hawks their first win of the season.

The game had been scoreless into the waning minutes when things got testy, with the Nittany Lions' John Gallagher and Brian Forgue each earning yellow cards with just under five minutes left, then red card ejections handed to Gallagher and Lehigh's Brian Suchoski about 90 seconds later.

After another Penn State foul, Lehigh (1-7) got the game-winner from Weaver, his fifth goal of the season, with 49 seconds remaining. It was just the Mountain Hawks' third win ever against Penn State in 19 meetings, and ended a run more than four games and 505 minutes of shutout time for the Lion defense. They had not allowed a goal since Sept. 2 against Georgetown

The Nittany Lions (6-2-1) outshot the Mountain Hawks 19-8, and Andrew Wolverton made three saves in the loss. Lehigh's Taylor Sulmonetti made seven saves for the shutout.

Penn State hosts No. 15 Indiana on Saturday night at Jeffrey Field.
