Moshannon Valley foundation receives charity status

The Moshannon Valley Community Education Foundation has received 501(c)3 charitable status and is classified as a public charity by the Internal Revenue Service.

The designation means the foundation is qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts.

Contributions made to the foundation are deductible.

During its first reorganization meeting, the board of directors elected the following members: Debora Kruise, president; Doris Souder, vice president; Laura Mihalko, secretary; and Elsie Harchak, treasurer. Jennifer Marie Charney is the new alumni association chairwoman.
