Ron Heichel's appeal denied by high court; convicted in 2009 Samuel Boob murder

Published: September 26, 2012

The state Supreme Court has denied a petition for appeal from Ronald Heichel, who is serving a life sentence and consecutive 20-year sentence for the 2009 murder of Samuel Boob.

Heichel was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the Aug. 23, 2009, slaying at Boob’s home in Potter Township.

Boob’s wife, Mirinda Boob, conspired with Heichel to kill the man.

The state Superior Court affirmed Heichel’s sentence in March, and affirmed a similar sentence against Boob in February.

Last week, the state Supreme Court denied Heichel’s appeal. Boob also appealed to the higher court, at a later date, and her filing is still pending, according to the Centre County District Attorney's Office.

Investigators found Heichel hid in the couple’s garage and shot Samuel Boob twice at close range with his own shotgun after Mirinda Boob helped lure her husband out of the house.

Mirinda Boob and Heichel had begun conspiring after meeting that summer, trial testimony revealed.
