At a time when teachers across the country are feeling undervalued, it was heartwarming and uplifting for me and my colleagues, the teachers of the State College Area School District, to hear the cheers, the applause and the words of gratitude and encouragement for us as we walked in the homecoming parade Sept. 20.

We are grateful for the community support for our public schools.
