As a Ferguson Township resident since 1978, I am deeply concerned about preserving the unique character of our beautiful township.
I strongly support the referendum that will appear on the ballot this November to amend the Home Rule Charter to include a community bill of rights.
This bill of rights would specifically protect our air, our water and our natural environment (wetlands, wildlife, etc.). The amendment would also ban fracking and the transport or dumping of wastewater and the construction of industrial pipelines in our township.
This would ensure that the future of our rural township would be in the hands of the residents, and not corporate interests.
The amendment is an affirmation of home rule.
Please join me and vote yes on the proposed amendment Nov. 6.
