COLUMBUS, Ohio — A trio of Nittany Lions found the net while Britt Eckerstrom made the lead stand up at the other end as the Penn State womens soccer team blanked Ohio State 3-0 Thursday night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Eckerstrom, a redshirt freshman, made nine saves for her first career shutout in her second start in goal as the Buckeyes outshot the No. 8 Nittany Lions 22-14.
Tani Costa and Maya Hayes scored in the first half, with Costa assisted by Mallory Weber and Hayes pouncing on a rebound after ha hard rip from Raquel Rodriguez. Christine Nairn finished the scoring, converting a blast from 35 yards out just under the crossbar in the 70th minute.
Penn State (9-2, 4-0 Big Ten) is back home Sunday to face Minnesota.
