NORTHUMBERLAND Grace Prep celebrated its first win of the season a 2-0 triumph over Sunbury Christian Academy on Thursday after Latham Thompson scored twice.
Thompson was set up by Brandon Berzas just over 51 minutes into the game. Thompson tallied an unassisted goal nearly seven minutes later to cap the scoring.
"I'm hoping that it kind of inspires us and turns us around for the rest of the season here," Grace Prep coach Daryl Hoffman said.
Despite being outshot by Sunbury Christian 10-6, Grace Prep held onto the win thanks in part to sturdy goal-tending by Jeffrey Layng, who made eight saves and later Thompson, who replaced Layng and stopped two shots.
