A recent letter expressed beliefs that State College only focuses on college students and the rich and that people are not giving or caring.

I have lived in State College for 29 years and never met an unkind person. My three children attended Penn State. All three worked through school and at one point, one of my children had three loans out to help pay for tuition.

They study, work and will pay loans for many years. As for the “rich” people, they earn their money through hard work and sacrifice.

Although not everyone is college educated, our lives within our work educate us. I am proud to live and work in this community.
