Men’s golf: Penn State finishes second

FT. MEYERS, Fla — .Penn State finished second at the Cobra-PUMA Invitational on Monday, carding an 8-under 856 total.

The Nittany Lions finished 19 strokes behind winner Florida Gulf Coast and a stroke ahead of Bethune-Cookman with their rounds of 284-286-286.

Anthony DeGol fired a 3-under 69 Monday for a 1-over 211 total to lead the Nittany Lions. He was followed by Geoff Vartelas and Jens Talbert, who tied for 16th at 216, and another stroke back was Jay Woodward to tie for 21st.

Florida Gulf Coast University won with an 837 total. Florida Gulf Coast’s Edward Figueroa finished with 10-under 200 total to win individual honors.
