Penn State women’s soccer: Maya Hayes nets honor

Penn State’s Maya Hayes was named the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Week by the conference Monday.

Hayes scored twice in a 4-3 win over Minnesota on Sunday and added a goal in a 3-0 triumph against Ohio State on Friday.

The junior also won the honor last week and has netted six weekly awards for her career. Hayes, who missed the opening part of the season while playing for the United States’ U-20 World Cup champion team, has played five games for the Nittany Lions and is already second on the team in scoring with seven goals in five games.
