Boy's soccer: Philipsburg-Osceola, Tyrone go scoreless

Published: October 2, 2012

TYRONE — Philipsburg-Osceola held a decisive edge in shots but could not convert on any of them as the Mounties and Tyrone played to 0-0 tie.

Jay Prentice made five saves for the shutout, including stuffing Alex Bartlett on a penalty kick midway through the second half. The shutout was the 18th of Prentice’s career.

P-O (6-1-4), which played the fifth of a stretch of seven games in 10 days, played to a scoreless tie for the second straight game and into overtime for the fourth time in five games.

“We’re not playing right but mostly it’s from fatigue,” P-O coach Shawn Inlow said. “We’ve had our chances but we’re not converting, and mostly it’s from fatigue. It’s going to be a real test but we have to get through this.”
