Boy's cross country: State High takes tri-meet

Published: October 3, 2012

SPRING MILLS — Penns Valley’s Michael Decker beat the field, but State College dominated with seven finishers in the top 10 to win a tri-meet on Tuesday.

The Little Lions, even with several of their top runners sitting out, cruised to a 20-41 win over the Rams and a 15-48 triumph against Clearfield.

Penns Valley thumped the Bisons 18-41.

Decker cruised, winning the 3.1-mile race in 17 minutes, 7 seconds. State College’s Connor Stashko (18:08), Eric Heatwole (18:09), Chase Davis (18:14), Alex DeCarle (18:38) and Jacob Cordell (18:43) followed.

Penns Valley’s Nick Fuller (18:44) was seventh.

“The guys like running at Penns Valley,” State College coach Dave Felice said. “It’s one of the nicest courses we run on. The guys ran well well as a pack and Decker ran a great race.”
