UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State redshirt freshman defensive end Deion Barnes has a message for coaches that might try contacting him during the season.

Don't bother.

“They are busy with their game planning,” Barnes said today. “I don't think they will be calling and I don't think they should be calling any of us. I know myself personally if they call, I'm not listening because I'm focusing on helping my team win.”

Penn State players have until the start of next year's preseason camp to transfer without having to miss a season. Barnes might need a personal assistant to field potential calls. Through five games, he leads the Nittany Lions with 4 ½ tackles for losses. The total includes 3 ½ sacks.

In what could be viewed as another jolt for Penn State, which has won three straight games, Barnes hinted that no member of the “Supa Six” has considered leaving. The group of second-year players also includes wide receiver Allen Robinson, left tackle Donovan Smith, tailback Bill Belton, tight end Kyle Carter and cornerback Adrian Amos. Every member of the group is a starter.

“I hope we are able to have a good team next year,” Barnes said. “Me and the “Supa Six” are focused on this season right now. We told everybody we will be returning and hopefully other guys will do the same.”
