PSU Football Recruit Report Card

Published: October 7, 2012

Each week the CDT will report how the recruits who have given Penn State an oral commitment performed during their games the previous weekend. This information will be gathered from newspaper accounts of those games, or from the player’s high school.

Christian Hackenberg, QB, (6-4, 210)

Fork Union relied little on Hackenberg’s arm and instead leaned on its run game in a 27-14 win over St. Christopher’s. The win — the first game Hackenberg did not throw a touchdown pass — was Fork Union’s sixth of the season.

Garrett Sickles, DE, (6-4, 240)

And his Red Bank Regional teammates suffered their third straight loss, this coming to Ocean Township 31-21. Sickles’ stats were not reported.

Brendan Mahon, OL, (6-5, 305)

Helped pave the way for Randolph to score four rushing touchdowns in a 38-8 romp over Chatham. Randolph improved to 4-1.

Curtis Cothran, DE, (6-5, 230)

And the rest of Council Rock North’s defensive line failed to pressure Neshaminy quarterbacks who completed 10 of 14 passes for 180 yards and two scores to hand Council Rock North a 38-26 loss.

Andrew Nelson, OL, (6-5, 265)

Helped opens holes for Hershey running backs to rush for 136 yards, but the Trojans turned the ball over six times and lost 54-10 to Bishop McDevitt.

Neiko Robinson, S (5-11, 170)

Served the final game of his six-game suspension he recieved for his role in a fight during a scrimmage earlier this season. Robinson is eligible to return to Northview’s lineup next week. Northview went 4-2 during Robinson’s absence.

Brandon Bell, LB, (6-1, 224)

Did not play in Oakcrest’s 39-0 loss against St. Joseph’s. Bell injured his collarbone last week and did not return.

Jordan Smith, DB, (5-11, 180)

And his H.D. Woodson teammates notched their second-straight win after starting 0-4. Smith’s stats were not reported after H.D. Woodson’s 48-40 win over rival Anacostia.

Kasey Gaines, DB, (5-11, 160)

And the rest of the Grayson defense dominated Central Gwinnett, holding them to just 29 yards in a 52-0 romp.
