On Sunday morning, I was enjoying reading the CDTs coverage of the Penn State football teams thrilling victory.
Then my attention shifted to the article PSU looks to fill stadium.
Athletic director Dr. David Joyner was quoted saying, I think our fans are seeing a pretty good product on the field so far this year.
Pretty good what? I couldnt believe what I read.
How could the efforts of a team of courageous young men winning against all odds be characterized as product?
Has the appeal of revenues from big-time college sports led to the belief that games played by students are similar to commodities for sale in the entertainment marketplace?
Dr. Joyner, please say it isnt so.
