HOLIDAYSBURG Two local golfers won District 6 girls championships in their respective classifications on Thursday.
St. Josephs Catholic Academy sophomore Kinsley Bonfilio won the District 6 Class AA championships on Thursday. Bonfilio, who outshot handfuls of players older than her, bettered her Day 1 score of 86 by shooting an 85 on Thursday.
Meanwhile, State Colleges Jessalyn Holdcroft carded a tournament-low 163 to win the Class AAA title, topping first-round leader Alyssa Sinclair of Bellefonte by four strokes. State Colleges team of Holdcroft, Kelly Rehill, Casey Sommers, Jayne Wilson and Karlie Nolan won the Class AAA team title with a team score of 711.
Bonfilio and Holdcroft advanced to the Regional round which begins Monday at Toms Run Golf Course in Blairsville. Bonfilio will be joined by fellow St. Joes sophomore Garrett Bastardi who qualified for regionals in the Class AA Boys Division.
