UNIVERSITY PARK — The top-ranked Penn State women’s volleyball team swept No. 17 Purdue, 25-19, 25-16, 25-16 on Friday night at Rec Hall.
Junior Deja McClendon, honored prior to the match for surpassing 1,000 career kills led Penn State (17- overall1, 7-0 Big Ten) with 12 kills, while Ariel Scott and Katie Slay and Megan Courtney posted nine apiece. Sophomore Micha Hancock had 38 assists and Dominique Gonzalez had eight digs. Nia Grant led the Nittany Lions at the net with five blocks, while Scott and Courtney had four each.
Penn State hit .393 against the Boilermakers (13-5, 4-3 Big Ten) and totaled 46 kills, four aces, 31 digs and 9.5 total team blocks. Purdue registered a .148 hitting percentage with 29 kills, two aces, 27 digs and 4.0 team blocks.
The Nittany Lions are back in action at 7 p.m. tonight against Indiana at Rec Hall.
