JOHNSON CITY, Tenn Penn State is 11th among 13th teams after the first round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.

The Nittany Lions shot a team total 294. Tennessee and Memphis are tied for the lead with an 8-under-par 280.

Freshman Geoff Vartelas leads the Nittany Lions and is tied for 22nd after a par round of 72. Jens Talbert (73), Anthony DeGol (74) and Matthew Porter (75) also scored for Penn State.
