BOILING SPRINGS State College posted a respectable third-place finish in the Mid-Penn Champoinships on Saturday, earning All-Conference honors for five runners.
Emma Cousins, Natasha Fedkina, Kaelyn Yoder, Sarah Almarzooqi and Hannah Grubb all finished in the Top 35 for the Lady Little Lions and all posted times under 21 minutes. As a team, the Lady Little Lions finished third behind only Palmyra and Cumberland Valley.
“We actually were pleased with the results. Third is what I had expected,” State College coach Rebecca Donaghue said. “We closed the gap a little bit more on Cumberland Valley. We’ve been working toward that all season long and we’re closing that gap little by little and that was a bit positive for us.”

BOILING SPRINGS With two runners placing in the Top 35, good for All-Conference awards, State College finished fifth in the Mid-Penn Championships on Saturday.Will Cather led State College with a time of 16:33, good for a fifth-place finish. Kyle Adams finished 31st in 17:11. Chris Golembeski and Matt Beyerle finished in the Top 50 for State College.
“These guys ran really well,” State College coach Dave Felice said. “I’m really, really pleased. Out of 29 teams we ended up fifth and turned a lot of heads today.”

LEWISBERRY Red Land dominated from start to finish, but it took a goal in the second overtime to finally put someone on the board as Red Land blanked State College 1-0 Saturday.Marissa Yeager found the net at 1:14 of the second overtime for the only goal of the game as Red Land dominated in shots 24-2.
Sarah Hartman was up to the challenge until the final shot, making five saves to keep the Lady Little Lions (11-5-1) in the contest.

STATE COLLEGE Sam Bollinger converted a penalty kick in the final two minutes to force overtime, and no one could score after that as State College and Red Land played to a 2-2 tie Saturday afternoon.The goal from Bollinger was his second of the game, following a goal right before halftime.
Keegan Wilson netted a score in the first half for Red Land and Ben Kunkel also converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute.
Nate Davis and Ty Leway teamed to make eight saves in the net for the Little Lions.

State College headed to states
TREASURE LAKE State College earned a berth in the PIAA Championships by edging McDowell at the Western Region Championships on Friday at Treasure Lake Golf Course.The Lady Little Lions finished with a 373 team score to edge the Trojans’ 378 score on a chilly, blustery day.
State College was led by Kelly Rehill’s 91, a stroke ahead of Jessalyn Holdcroft’s 92, with Jayne Wilson two more strokes back. Casey Sommers added a 96 and Karli Nolan carded a 107.
