— Syracuse used four third-period goals to pull away from the Penn State women’s ice hockey team, locking down its second straight shutout of the Nittany Lions 6-0 Sunday afternoon at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion.

Laurie Kingsbury scored two goals and assisted on another and Margo Scharfe also scored twice while Kallie Billadeau made 20 saves at the other end of the ice for the shutout. The Orange won Saturday’s meeting between the College Hockey America foes 4-0.

Syracuse was overwhelming offensively, holding a 44-20 advantage in shots. Goaltender Celine Whitlinger made 38 saves in the loss as Penn State dropped to 1-3 overall in their first weekend of action in the CHA.

Melissa Piacentini and Holly Carrie-Lattimoe netted the other scores for the Orange (2-2, 2-0), who converted on 2 of 5 power play opportunities.

The Nittany Lions will visit Sacred Heart next weekend.
