Letter to the editor | Lies, lies and more lies

Published: October 16, 2012

During the first presidential debate, Mitt Romney looked directly into the camera and lied repeatedly.

Lie: He wants to broaden the base. Romney decimated jobs that could be saved and was 47th out of 50 in job creation as governor of Massachusetts.

Lie: Private industry can provide better service at less cost. If true, we would not need Medicare or Obamacare.

Lie: He wouldn’t raise taxes on anyone. At one point, a $17,000 standard deduction would have cut my deductions in half, essentially raising my taxes.

Lie: Sunsetting Bush tax cuts for the wealthy is a tax increase. This cut was a gift, bought and paid for by the wealthy and it is Bush who is responsible for the setting of this undeserved gift.

Lie: A medical panel will determine treatment. This panel of experts will itemize best practices for treatment, not direct treatment.

If Romney doesn’t provide 10 years of tax returns he should not receive our consideration for the position. We need to see Romney’s tax returns.
