Letter to the editor | Truth still important

Published: October 20, 2012

After reading the article “Faculty Senate won’t join critics” and the opinion “Conflicting storylines” in the Oct 17 Centre Daily Times, I wondered if that isn’t the new “culture” here at Penn State University.

It appears that the board of trustees and the administration, and now the faculty, are more concerned about “moving on” than about getting to the truth of the problem and determining exactly what happened.

Apparently, truth and due process for all, success with honor and all the virtues that were a given here, are now getting in the way of what the university needs.

Isn’t that what people say happened in 1998 and 2001? I quote John Nousek in his statement in the “Faculty Senate” article: “the Faculty Senate’s role should focus on goals going forward and procedures to prevent similar situations.”

Similar to — the blatant lies and unsubstantiated facts that we have gotten thus far ?
