Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer says QB Braxton Miller expected to practice and play Saturday

Published: October 22, 2012

It sounds like Penn State must brace to face slick Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller on Saturday night.

Ohio State listed Miller as its starting quarterback in a depth chart released today, and coach Urban Meyer said tests on the sophomore returned negative. Miller was taken to the hospital last Saturday after being slammed to the turf in the third quarter of the Buckeyes' 29-22 overtime victory over Purdue.

Meyer said in his weekly news conference today that Miller's neck is “very sore.” But Meyer said he expects Miller to practice Tuesday.

“He got whiplash,” Meyer said. “He was just rattled. Once he settled down, he seemed to be fine.”

Miller is a strong candidate for Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors. He's completed 105 of 179 passes for 1,384 yards while rushing for 959 yards on 141 carries. His rise has helped ninth-ranked Ohio State begin the season 8-0.
