BLACKSBURG, Va. — Top-seeded Petra Januskova advanced to the final of the ITA Atlantic Regional Tennis Tournament at Virginia Tech after downing both of her singles opponents Monday.
Januskova, a senior, pushed her season win total to 15 with the wins against No. 8 Maci Epstein and No. 4 Stephanie Nauta — both of the University of Virginia.
The match was the second between Epstein and Januskova on the day. Prior to their encounter in the singles quarterfinal, Epstein and her partner Erin Vierra knocked Januskova and Chelsea Utting out of the doubles draw 8-6.
Januskova got revenge in their second match, defeating Epstein in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Januskova breezed by Nauta, 6-0, 6-1.
Januskova will face another Cavalier when she squares off against the No. 2 Li Xi today at noon.
