State College police responding to a call on Hillcrest Avenue had quite a surprise this morning.

Police arrived to find a 4-foot python slithering outside in the street.

The snake was discovered by maintenance crews working in the area. They were alarmed by the animal and called police.

Officers were able to capture the snake safely. It was taken to Centre Wildlife Care in Port Matilda.

The owner of the snake can contact State College police to claim the animal.
