Police searching for suspect in downtown aggravated assault

State College and Penn State police are investigating an aggravated assault at about 2 a.m. Saturday in downtown.

Police said a student was walking near the intersection of College Avenue and Atherton Street when he was struck once in the face, knocking him unconscious.

Police said the victim could not provide information about the suspect's identity. No other information was available.

Anyone with information about the assault can contact State College police at 234-7150, Penn State police at 863-1111, or Centre County Crime Stoppers at 877-992-7463. Callers can remain anonymous.

Information can also be reported by visiting the university police's silent witness website at www.police.psu.edu/witness. Anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
