Letter to the editor | Provider services questioned

Published: October 31, 2012

In the second nationally televised debate between Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama, the president said, “There are millions of women all across the country who rely on Planned Parenthood for not just contraceptive care; they rely on it for mammograms.”

True or false?

False. One of the biggest myths perpetuated by the left and Planned Parenthood is that the abortion giant provides mammograms. It does not. It is, however, the largest provider of abortion services in the United States.

Mammography has been in use as a tool in the battle against breast cancer since about 1970.

According to the FDA, no Planned Parenthood facility in the U.S. is licensed to do mammograms. In June, the Department of Health and Human Services said no Planned Parenthood clinic in the U.S. has mammogram equipment.

Nevertheless, the left has repeated the claim that the organization is in the mammogram business to justify continuing taxpayer funding for abortions.

Obama is an effective spokesman for the abortion industry. If only he had an effective strategy to promote economic growth.

It turns out Obama is qualified to do something. On Nov. 6, let’s persuade him to run for the head post at Planned Parenthood.
