Penn State mens' soccer: Penn State wins share of Big Ten, has top seed

Published: November 5, 2012

PARK RIDGE, Ill. — The regular season schedule closed with Penn State finishing with a share of the Big Ten title with Northwestern.

The Nittany Lions and Wildcats finished with matching 3-1-2 conference records, with Penn State earning the top seed for this week’s conference tournament thanks to an overtime win over Northwestern.

Earning the top seed gives the Lions a first-round bye for the tournament, which begins Wednesday. Penn State will play Friday against the winner of the Indiana-Michigan State matchup.

With the team’s finish, it gives Penn State its third regular-season conference title of the fall, to go with women’s soccer and field hockey crowns. The women’s volleyball team also sits in first place with six matches left in the regular season.
